About Us

Overview

The Medical Parents Association (MPA) is a multi-faceted volunteer organization that serves as a liaison to the faculty and administration representing medical students, their parents, and families. Involvement in the MPA allows family members to be active participants in their student’s medical school years.

Mission Statement

*The mission of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Medical Parents Association is to establish and enhance a mutually beneficial and enduring relationship between the School of Medicine and its administration, faculty, students and their families.

Goals & Objectives

It is the Medical Parents Association goal to help all University of Miami Miller School of Medicine students have a well-rounded education. One of our most noted contributions was the purchase of 125 microscopes, which continues to allow 1st and 2nd year students to rent them for a minimal fee instead of making the investment of purchasing their own.

It is our hope to strengthen our medical student’s education by supporting their programs, projects and community outreach, such as:

  • The Medical Parents Association will continue to assemble parent volunteers to assist the volunteer students at community health fairs.
  • The senior members of the Medical Parents Association will serve as hosts and hostesses at the John G. Clarkson Freshman Pinning Ceremony.
  • The Medical Parents Association will host the annual Freshman Parent Orientation event.

We will continue to support our medical students when they vie with the School of Law in multiple sports for the treasured Dean’s Cup.
